Small Milkweed Bugs

The small milkweed bug we saw.

Small milkweed bugs are black, red, and flat as you can see in the picture. But that doesn’t stop them from being a pretty cool bug. This is the small milkweed bug we saw when we were searching for pollinators and I can’t wait to see one again. But here’s some things about the small milkweed bug. The small milkweed bug likes being by milkweed plants because of course its called a small milkweed bug – so why don’t you think it should be by a milkweed plant?

I learned from What’s That Bug?,   that the small milkweed bug is a scavenger and predator for monarch caterpillars and pupae, honey bees, and dogbane beetles. They do this more in the spring when they can’t find milkweed seeds.
